Bhutan’s first Private Airline belonging to Tashi Group of Companies and started its commercial operation on domestic sector in year 2011with a Pilatus PC 12 while began its international operation in 2013 with an A320 aircraft, operating a flight from Paro to Bangkok and connecting to Kolkata (from 7th December 2013).

Hand Baggage
Please ensure that the carry-on bags in the cabin do not exceed the dimensions of 55 cms x 40 cms x 20 cms and a maximum weight of 7 kgs.
Duty free items purchased at the airport of departure in Bhutan permitted for carriage on the aircraft only if they are:
If passengers are transferring to another flight at any point on their journey or at destination, or deplaning from the aircraft at a transit point, where they are required to go through security checks once again, duty free liquids, and gels exceeding 100 ml. and purchased in India not be permitted. However, items purchased in that country, at the airport of departure permitted as per the local laws.

In addition to one piece of cabin baggage or package, passengers also permitted to carry the following items, subject to Security Regulations:
An odd sized cabin baggage not conforming to the specified dimension not allowed in the cabin. Such baggage removed at the gate / boarding point, and affixed with a "Limited Release Baggage Label" and will be loaded in the hold.
Children (above 12 years old) are entitled to the same cabin baggage allowances as adults.
Excess Baggage
Should passengers’ baggage exceed the limitations of the Free Baggage allowance, an excess baggage charge need to be paid as per the below rates.
Rates:
For baggage which is received damaged or is delayed or lost, please contact the Bhutan Airlines personnel in the arrival hall and report the same. A report will be filed and a copy will be given with a reference number for follow up action. In the event that you arrive at your destination without your checked baggage, please be assured that airline will do everything possible to have your baggage delivered to you as soon as possible.
In the event of loss of baggage, claims will be settled as per the applicable company’s policy. As per the policy, the compensation is computed at the rate of USD 4 per kg.
For passengers travelling on International routes, in case of damage to baggage, complaint must be made in writing to the Carrier forthwith after discovery of damage and not later than 3 days( working Hour).
Airline will notify you as soon as your baggage is located and will deliver it to the address you specified, subject to local customs regulations. Alternatively, you may collect your baggage at the airport and in such case airline will reimburse the transport cost.
Prohibited items
There are some items that you’re not allowed to take on your aircraft in either your hand baggage or your hold luggage, and these are listed below.With a little preparation, there is a lot you can do to make sure your journey through airport security is as quick and hassel-free as possible. Here are few things to consider:
What can I take?
Security is really important in air travel, and making sure passengers only bring on board appropriate items is one of our biggest responsibilities. Knowing what’s allowed and what’s not allowed before you arrive could save you, and other passengers, time and inconvenience.
Drinks
You’re welcome to take drinks in cans, bottles, plastic containers and cartons, but these can’t be over 100ml. They also need to be carried in a transparent, re-sealable, airtight bag. The size of the bag must be no larger than 20cm x 20cm and is restricted to one per person. Remember, once through security you can buy drinks in the departure area to take on to the plane. Drinks that are open or that you are consuming prior to the Security checkpoint cannot be carried through and
must be fully consumed or discarded.
Food
You can carry fruit, vegetables and all solid foods in your hand baggage. However, foods in sauces or with a high liquid content (such as sauces, pastes, soups and stews) need to go in the same transparent bag as any liquids, creams, gels. The size of container must not excee100ml, regardless of the amount contained inside. Please note that jams, honey and other preserves are also subject to these restrictions.
Baby products
Only carry what you need for the trip. Wet wipes and powdered baby food are fine, but you’ll be asked to taste the following:
• baby milk
• baby food in liquid, gel or paste form.
You will be asked to taste 50% of the containers. So if you are carrying four bottles of milk, two will need to be opened and tested. When bringing pushchairs, prams or buggies, you’ll need to lift your child out during X-ray checks. You can take infants’ car seats on to the plane.
Electrical Items
At some airport security checkpoints you may be asked to remove MP3 and CD players, portable DVD players and laptops from your baggage to be screened separately. Digital cameras and mobile phones can stay in your hand baggage or jacket to be X-rayed. You can also bring gas hair tongs, but remember you cannot carry any spare gas refills in either your hold or hand baggage.
Cosmetics and toiletries
You can bring solid deodorants, lipsticks, brushes, combs and toothbrushes on board. Disposable contact lenses (in sealed packaging) are also allowed, as are non-disposable lenses with a small amount of solution (less than 100ml container limit applies). Only razors where the blade is fully and permanently enclosed and razor cartridges are allowed in hand baggage. The following products must be in containers less than 100ml, and must also go in a transparent, reseal able, airtight bag (20cm x 20cm). Contents must fit completely inside the bag so it can be sealed along with any liquids, creams, gels and pastes:
Medicines and medical equipment
Medicines can’t exceed the 100ml maximum, and must be kept in a transparent, re-sealable bag. There’s no limit for powder or pills. If your medical needs mean you must carry more, you’ll need approval from your airline. Always carry your prescription with you, or a statement from a medical professional. Insulin, epipen, hypodermic needles and medicines must be tested and verified by the passenger, as must children’s medicine. Please check with your airline about your requirements before travelling, but be reassured that if you have a genuine medical condition (supported by a letter from your GP or hospital) then there should be no problem with taking such items on board the plane. However, please ensure you get the consent of the airline with whom you are travelling. Please pack any equipment that you need responsibly to minimize the likelihood of security staff incurring puncture wounds. Please notify our security staff that your hand baggage contains your equipment when you present it at security control. Inhalers are allowed in hand baggage, but you must pack spare canisters in your hold baggage. As for essential medical equipment, you’ll need prior approval from your airline, unless it fits within your hand baggage. Please clearly mark it ‘essential medical equipment’. Remember, non-prescription medicines for children and adults can be purchased after you’ve gone through security.
Smoking materials
Cigarettes and other tobacco products are all allowed in hand baggage. Please note matches and lighters are not allowed in hand or checked in baggage. You may take a single butane lighter or a box of safety matches on board the aircraft but only if carried on your person. Zippo lighters are also allowed as your one lighter. Smoking is not permitted inside the terminal building.
Writing materials
Ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, gel pens and pencils are allowed, as are fountain pens with a single open cartridge in use, but any refills cannot exceed 100ml.
Sharp and prohibited items
The following items are forbidden in hand baggage:
• toy or replica guns (including water pistols)
• catapults or slingshots
• razor blades
• sports bats, clubs or cues
• knives and scissors with a sharp or pointed blade and/or blades longer than 6cm (round-ended, blunt scissors and knives less than 6cm are permitted)
• tools
• darts
• hypodermic syringes (unless for medical reasons)
• party poppers
• items that could be used as a potential weapon.
This is not an exhaustive lists.
Forbidden anywhere on the aircraft:
• acids
• poisons
• flammable liquids
• explosives
• matches or lighters (except on your person)
• bleach
• incapacitating sprays
• ignitable gas devices
• compressed gas.
Check-in counters open 180 minutes prior to flight departure. Guests travelling in groups (9 or more guests) are advised to report to the airport at least 120 minutes prior to the flight departure.
Check-in counters are closed 45 minutes before departure time for all classes. Passenger who have not reported to the airport by 45 minutes prior to departure, will be offloaded from the flight and have their seats released for guests on standby.
In order to maintain schedules, the boarding gate will be closed 25 minutes before departure time. Passenger who do not report at the boarding gate on time will not be boarded.

A first-aid kit is available with the cabin crew on flight.

As a precautionary measure all toilets are fitted with smoke detectors and Government of Bhutan prohibits smoking.

The washrooms are equipped with a diaper changing table. The cabin crew can assist you to the washrooms.

Infant and child care
Airline commits to provide seamless travel experiences to the younger patrons.
Children below 2 years and between the age of 2 and 12 years need not just look forward to the excitement, airline also provide child meal for them, however that needs to be booked 24hours prior to flight departure also cabin crew can guide all the children to the washroom.
Bassinet
Bassinet seats are available for infants according to their weight.
Unaccompanied Minors
Children above 5 and under 12 years of age travelling alone, are entitled to Unaccompanied Minors service, as long as they are travelling on a full adult fare ticket. Please note that children under 5 are not accepted for the Unaccompanied Minors service.
Young Passengers are children from 12 years of age up to, but not including, their 16th birthday. Young Passengers are entitled to Unaccompanied Minors service if specifically requested.
Bhutan Airlines provides special assistance in Medical Case such as:
1) Provide medical oxygen used in aircraft;
2) Provide service for disabled group who are qualified for boarding;
3) Provide stretcher for passengers who need it;
4) Provides wheel chair for disabled.
